The Asima blouse aspires to be as revolutionary as its namesake, Asima Chatterjee, who was an Indian organic chemist noted for her work in the fields of organic chemistry and phytomedicine. A breaker of barriers and glass ceiling of her time she became a world-renowned scientist when women weren't even allowed to pursue higher education. She proved that women had brains who could think just like a man, they could be more than just wives or mothers when she became the first woman to receive a Doctorate of Science from an Indian university. For her exemplary achievements in the field of science, she received Padma Bhushan Award and became the first female scientist to be elected as the president of the Indian Science Congress Association.
